I miss you my friend!

I woke this morning thinking of Jake.....
It's been over 2 months since he has
been gone and it still hurts! Once again,
I realize I am the lucky one - to have
had his love and devotion for over 12
years...I haven't had the words to
express myself about Jake - these words
touch on how I feel....

This Flame burns bright in honor of you
My faithful friend, I will always miss you.
Through the years you were always there,
To make me smile and dry my tears.
And you maybe gone, but your spirit remains
To forever light my way, bring warmth to my heart.

Memory never dies.....Memory never fades.

THE BEST EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Charlie and Brook's wedding was THE BEST EVER!!!!
Yes! I am highly prejudice! August 24th 2007 will be
a day I remember forever!

The beach wedding was awesome with just a hint
of rain! The reception was exceptional with great
food, dancing, laughs and TONS of love! Brook was
absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!! The bridesmaids were
knockouts, Linda and Connie were gorgeous mothers
and I had a smile that could not be wiped off with Ajax!

Brook had many friends that flew in from Louisville to
spend her special day with her - we had Bob from Kentucky,
friends, neighbors. Charlie's fraternity buddies, best friend
from high school and Captain Garret Cathcart all rallied to
help make the wedding one for the ages!

My baby - Courtney looked INCREDIBLE and caught the
bouquet and here boyfriend Steven caught the garter -
UH-OH!!!!!!!!!!!!

My brother and his wife made all the flower arrangements,
brought them down from Tennessee and they were spectacular!
My nephew and his wife provided all the photography - all
the love showed through all the help!

Our new "in-laws" were a sheer delight! Lewis and Connie
Clifton are truly wonderful people and it is exciting to have
such marvelous folks in our extended family! They will be
married 38 years next month - CONGRATS good people
and come back to see us soon! We will all be making
other plans soon...............:-)

Charlie and Brook left Sunday morning for a Jamaican
honeymoon and I hope they are as happy as they have
made us!

Once again, I am overwhelmed with the countless blessings
in my life!

And THE KISS went on and on and on.............

Good Morning!

Good Morning All!
1 month after surgery and all is well! Walking,
driving and even got on the motorcycle yesterday!
I want to thank EVERYONE!!!!! The well wishes
and the calls were all very appreciated!
The 1st night party with Linda, Courtney and
Brook at the hospital was the best!
My darling bride Linda is a care giver beyond
description! She did so much so well and kept
up her property too!
My main girl Court - thank you baby! She brought
me lunch every day and toted me to the DR for
my appointments and wherever else I needed to
go!
Once again, I do not have the words worthy to
describe these wonderful people in my life....

Captain's Ball

Brook flew to Louisville to accompany Charlie to
The Captains' Ball. You can tell by the smiles that
they had a great time! Just mention Brook's name
around Charlie and you get the same smile! Less
than 60 days until their wedding!

He rubbed my feet....

Every year as Fathers Day approaches I am humbled and more aware
of the countless blessings that have been part of my life! I have said
many times - you really don't know what love is until you have a child!
I truly feel that way! Charlie and Courtney mean more to me than I
have ability to put into words! This Fathers Day I will have Brook to
be thankful for also! A very sweet and beautiful lady that has Charlie
happier than ever! And then there was my Dad!!!! The Ultimate Father!
William Felix Moores! WOW! I was once asked in a questionnaire - if you
could have lunch with anyone from anytime in the world - I immediately
wrote in - my Dad! When Charlie has told me that I am the greatest
Father ever, I am embarrassed. I am nothing compared to Dad. He
was the most honorable human being I knew! He married his high school
sweetheart, Rubye - what a woman! He put her on a pedestal the rest
of his life - very day, every moment - he honored her and honored his
commitment. He worked hard and as young man developed Popeye-like
forearms and had a natural mechanical aptitude - Dad could fix anything!
I saw him change transmissions in our carport and bring many a car back
to life! He worked for Tampa Electric Company in a very specialized unit.
He was so good at what he did, that they would often call him with a problem
and he would ask a few questions and tell them how to fix the problem!
He came to most of my football and baseball games, but was not too crazy
when I jumped into Karate at 14. He came home one day and found I had
broken every brick he had in half - I yelled, "Look at what I can do!" He
calmly told me to pick the mess up and said I surely would be safe if a brick
attacked me! He recorded all the sermons and musicals at our church (on
equipment that he donated) and make copies for the shut-ins so they
could have church come to them. He also kept the air conditioners running
and always helped out WHENEVER they asked. He had a monster sense
of humor and all my friends warmed to him instantly! He bought me a 110
pound weight set at Christmas and 3 of my friends were over trying to be
Hercules. 2 of us managed to get over our head and Dad walked up, picked
up the bar with ONE HAND, lifted it over his head 8 times real fast, put
it back down and walked off.....I did not argue back with him much!!!! I did
not do a lot of things just out of the fear that he would find out - disappointing
him crushed me more than anything! He died in 1980 and the last pictures
ever made of him were of an extremely excited Granddad holding an equally
excited 3-1/2 month old baby - Charlie! You can not tell who was having the
most fun. He was CACA over that baby from the minute he was born! I'm SO
thankful for those last pictures! My Dad loved me unconditionally! I recently
came home from the hospital from a hip replacement and my lovely wife Linda
was soaking and rubbing my feet and I flashed back to my 1st knee injury in
1967.... I woke up in my bed and as my eyes cleared, I could see my Dad at the
end of my bed using those phenomenally strong hands to rub my feet.....NOTHING
ever felt better....his touch cured all!

Well Dad - I'll never be 10% of what you were, but you showed me the right way!

Thoughts....

I had a very influential man in my life that was also a wonderful friend and counselor. His name was Harold and he was pastor at the Methodist Church our family attended. At a time when I found many other activities more enticing, Harold always stayed in touch and remained a friend. He would attend my football and baseball games. When my world collapsed with the death of my best friend, Harold talked me through the tough times patiently. He always talked with me as a friend and equal instead of talking down to such a young guy! College came and we saw less of each other, but he remained a part of my life. He later survived a terrible car accident in our neighborhood where he was actually pronounced dead at one point. He fought back, lived and came back to the pulpit after a long and painful rehabilitation. His 1st sermon was titled "The Rustling of Angels Wings". He could barely make the steps up to the pulpit and there was not a dry eye in the sanctuary as relived his experiences of that day. His words describing the angel of death have never left me! He said that the angel of death appeared as a long lost, welcomed friend ........

I remain thankful for the countless blessings that have been poured out in my life! I KNOW that I have been blessed far beyond what I deserve! I say thank you to my wonderful family - the 3 best people in the world for putting up with me all these years. I pray that Linda, Charlie and Courtney have every dream come true!
